Arklow Youth Mental Health Week 2013
The fourth Annual Arklow Youth Mental Health week 2013 is taking place from October 7th to 11th . The theme for 2013 is ‘Express Yourself, Communicate More, It’s Good for your Mental Health!’. Arklow Youth Mental Health Week aims to provide education, information on many issues relating to Mental Health, help reduce stigmas and encourage help seeking behaviour. The week will provide a broad and varied schedule of events aimed at young people aged 12-18 years within the five secondary school settings ion Arklow.
It will feature workshops on topics from Eating and Positive Body Image, Bullying, Coping with Suicide to the Benefits of Nature, Physical Exercise and Music.
Planning and scheduling for this very worthy week of events is again thanks to Arklow Youth mental Health Week Committee which comprises representatives from HSE Primary Care Team, Arklow Local Eduication Committee, Mental Health Ireland,
Arklow Youth Mental health Week will be officially opened by Mr. Andrew Doyle, TD on Monday October 7th at 11am at Arus Lorcain. All five secondary schools will give presentations on their interpretation of the theme’Express Yourself, Communicate More, It Is Good for Your Mental Health’
The finale of the week long event will again culminate in the now famous ‘ Big Sing’ where choirs and solo artists from all the primary and secondary schools in the town will perform together to give the message that music and singing is good for your mental health! A release of doves in the grounds of Arus Lorcain to symbolise positive youth mental health will close Arklow’s Fourth Annual Youth Mental Health Week.
